Preventive Care

For your Puppy:
Your Puppy's visit to Vidalia Veterinary Clinic is more than just a time to receive vaccinations. The wellness exam is very important. The veterinarians will exam your puppy looking for potential problems. We will exam his eyes, ears, listen to the heart and other body systems.

Also we will discuss the care and training of your puppy. House breaking problems are one of the most frustrating problems encountered by most owners. We will help with advise and direction in caring for you puppy.

Examinations for intestinal parasites is for the protection of your pet and your family. Many intestinal parasites like roundworms can infect humans also. By controlling these parasites you are protecting both the puppy and family members.

Vaccines are also important in protecting your pet from contagious diseases. Vaccination protocols begin at 6 weeks and are given every 3 weeks (6, 9, 12, and 15 weeks)

Heartworm prevention will also be started during this time.

Adult Annual Vaccinations and Wellness Exam:
For the adult dog it is important to have the annual wellness exam. We are all familiar with having an annual check up and this is what the a yearly exam is for your dog. Except for your dog each year equates to approximately 3 years in human years.

The veterinarians of Vidalia Veterinary Clinic are trained and experienced in evaluating your pets health. We recommend the following:

  • Rabies Vaccination
  • DA2LP+CPV
  • Bordetella
  • Internal Parasite Exam
  • Heartworm Testing

Additionally as your dog gets older additional laboratory work up is indicated and we will discuss this with you during your visit.

For your Kitten:
For your kitten its visit to Vidalia Veterinary Clinic is more than just a time to receive vaccinations. The wellness exam is very important. The veterinarians will exam your kitten looking for potential problems. We will exam his eyes, ears, listen to the heart and other body systems.

Also we will discuss the care of your kitten. We will help with advise and direction in caring for you kitten.

Examinations for intestinal parasites is for the protection of your pet and your family. Many intestinal parasites like roundworms can infect humans also. By controlling these parasites you are protecting both the kitten and family members.

Kittens are vaccinated for several diseases during visits to the clinic, including FVRCP, Feline Leukemia, Rabies, and Internal Parasite Examinations.

For your Adult Cat:
Adult cats need the annual visits for the same reasons we need annual visits to our doctor. Cats, even though they frequently live in our houses, are exposed to many diseases. The visit is design to find and identify these problems.

Vaccines need to be designed to fit the individual cat. Indoor cats have different problems than outdoor cats. Their vaccination program needs to be designed for them.

In general we recommend the core vaccines during the first years of life to include:

  • Rabies Vaccination
  • FVRCP
  • Feline Leukemia
  • Internal Parasite Examination
